The Facebook Phenomenon
Many events in people's lives seem to make their way to my news feed.

When an important event happens, most people update their Facebook status. So what happens when 30 or 40 other people think the same thing? A Facebook phenomenon.
This day in age, whenever an important event happens in the world, it seems as if everyone updates their Facebook status about it, whether it be about the results of a sporting event, the extreme weather or anything in between.
When the San Francisco Giants won the World Series back in 2010, the moment Wilson struck out the Texas Rangers player, people immediately posted about it on Facebook.
When Barack Obama won the presidential election in 2008, people began updating their statuses like crazy.
And whenever there's an earthquake (which, let's face it, happens a lot living in the Bay Area), the event always seems to make it's way onto my news feed.
Although it becomes irritating after seeing the same status a plethora of times, I will admit I've done it too. It's not that everyone planned to collectively update their status, but people are beginning to share their emotions and feelings about certain topics on their Facebook accounts, which results in multiple posts about the same thing.
As annoying as it may be to see tons of status updates saying how hard it's raining outside, I know the phenomenon is here to stay, so I might as well accept the fact that my news feed will become flooded with the same information.
