Burlingame Council Dooms Oak Trees!

Last night(7/1/2013) Council meeting was pathetic.  Glad you dismissed the "Junior Mayors" in attendance so they missed your condemnation of the Oak trees on Summit Drive.  Reason stated was that Council members evidently walked the street (most likely at the direction of the newly contracted  BSD (fixit PR consultant).  Said they found "two camps."  They said the neighborhood was in favor of "widening the street."
This is crazy.  The proposed pick up zone on in the front of the proposed school is a mere bulge and will not relieve traffic on Summit drive.  It will just cause chaos during drop off and pick up times.  The reason neighbors object to this is the fact that the School District does not have a plan.  They are just ramrodding this as fast as they can before the public realizes what a huge expensive mess has been created.  Fact: the oaks are in good condition.  The BSD hired a firm to write a half page report that the oaks needed to be replaced.  The only reason they want the oaks to go is that they want space for their later-to-be detailed drop off zone.    Shame on you for using the credibility of your city arborist as "hit man" to do the dirty work to remove the trees under false reasons. This makes me more suspect of all of your plans.  Now the City tells the school district to go ahead and cut the trees.  Your Council persons who directed the public at the "hearing" to stick to the tree issue -- in the end made their ruling with the rude comment that the public was just trying to stop the school.  This was all a set up, BSD, Burlingame Council.   All I can say is: Shame on you!
