Burlingame Police Assist in Peninsula Pedestrian Safety Operation

The operation netted a total of 71 tickets.

SAN BRUNO, CA- Nearly 100 people were contacted by police in the San Bruno and South San Francisco areas on Thursday as part of a special pedestrian safety operation, police announced Friday.

The operation was held on Thursday with officers from the San Bruno Police Department, South San Francisco Police Department, and Burlingame Police Department all taking part, according to Burlingame Police Sgt. Jim Ford.

Focusing their efforts on the cities of San Bruno and South San Francisco, traffic officers zeroed in on known trouble spots and conducted a "saturated traffic enforcement to crackdown on drivers and pedestrians who violate traffic laws meant to protect all roadway users," Ford said.

"Special attention was directed toward drivers speeding, making illegal turns, failing to stop for signs and signals, failing to yield to pedestrians in cross walks or any other dangerous violation."

According to Ford, officers also looked for pedestrians who crossed the street illegally.
