Burlingame Police Cracking Down On DUI Drivers
Police will hold DUI saturation patrols this weekend.

BURLINGAME, CA — Burlingame police will be out in full force this Friday looking for those who decide to hit the road after drinking or using drugs. The Burlingame Police Department will hold DUI saturation patrols beginning at 6 p.m.
The operation will last until approximately 2 a.m. Saturday, according to police.
"In 2017, 1,120 people were killed in alcohol-involved crashes on California roads," police said in a news release announcing the patrols. "Last year the Burlingame Police Department investigated 37 DUI collisions which claimed 0 lives and resulted in 9 injuries."

Police offered the following advice for drivers:
- Always use a designated sober driver – a friend who is not drinking, ride-share, cab or public transportation – to get home.
- See someone who is clearly impaired try and drive? Take the keys and help them make other arrangements to find a sober way home.
- Report drunk drivers – Call 911.
- Hosting a party? Offer nonalcoholic drinks. Monitor who is drinking and how they are getting home.
The operation is made possible from state and federal grants.
