Burlingame Police Unveil Internet Exchange Zone

The area is meant to deter fraud and theft.

BURLINGAME, CA -- Police have launched an internet exchange zone in the department's front parking lot to deter fraud and theft related to buying and selling items over the internet, police said Friday.

The area outside the department at 1111 Trousdale Drive will be monitored by video cameras and officers. The area is marked by signs.

Police said the popularity of online commerce is up in recent years and new crimes related to it have been occurring.
