Burlingame Readies for Annual Drill on Oct. 3
Residents of all ages invited to participate
The Burlingame Neighborhood Network is inviting residents of Burlingame and the Burlingame Hills are invited to sign up to lead or participate in a neighborhood drill group for the 13th annual Burlingame Disaster Response Drill on Saturday, October 3, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Details are available at burlingamenetwork.org/drill.
At this outdoor community event, participants practice organizing in neighborhood teams to help one another after a simulated disaster, and they learn how to relay requests for help via the Zello app, which makes your cell phone resemble a walkie-talkie. There is no fee, and all materials and training are provided free of charge. Families are welcome, and children 10 and older will be assigned active roles in the drill.
The City of Burlingame, the Central County Fire Department, the Burlingame Police Department and Burlingame's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are official sponsors of the drill. Local Ham radio operators also support the exercise. For more information, email info@burlingamenetwork.org.
