Do your kids or grandkids write letters to Santa Claus? That’s all it takes to help two Hillsborough boys make the lives of other children brighter.

Eleven year old Alex and eight year old Jordan Stettner both suffer from Common Variable Immunodeficiency, a disorder that impairs the immune system. They were granted wishes by Make-A-Wish Bay Area. Following their wish trips, the brothers pledged to pitch in so that other kids would also have their dreams come true.

That’s where the letters to Santa come in. Macy’s Believe campaign is underway. For every letter to Santa submitted to the campaign, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million, to help grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Alex and Jordan are leading an effort at their school called the “Race to Believe.” More than 45 Bay Area schools are competing to see who can write and collect 5,000 letters fastest. All of the teams are led by former Wish Kids. The winning school will be crowned the Race to Believe Champions with a trophy ceremony in December.

While you’re discouraged from dropping off your letters at the school to prevent any disruptions, you may write and submit them online to generate a donation.

Macy’s has donated more than $10 million to Make-A-Wish through its Believe campaign since 2008. Macy’s total contribution to Make-A-Wish since 2003 is an astounding $83 million. That’s a lot of wishes come true!
