Compass High School in San Mateo Holds Grand Opening Ceremony
Compass High School was founded in 2012 to provide a college-preparatory program for students with learning differences.

Compass High School, a multi-faceted high school for students with mild-to-moderate learning differences, celebrated its grand opening Wednesday at its new location in San Mateo, California.
Compass High School was founded in 2012 to provide a college-preparatory program for students with learning differences. It has pioneered the use of technology and additional services to provide a rigorous academic program that challenges talented youngsters while addressing their learning differences in a supportive, structured and individualized environment.

“Our new location in San Mateo is an exciting step for us,” said Rachel Wylde, Executive Director of Compass. “It will allow us to continue to grow and offer leading-edge services to our students. In addition, its location allows easy access for both private and public transportation for students from San Francisco to San Jose.”
“We are pleased that Compass chose San Mateo to locate the high school,” said Robert Ross, Mayor of San Mateo. “This is another example of how San Mateo leads in both public and private education to serve our community.”

The Compass High School goal is to help students achieve their full academic potential by developing critical learning strategies, social competence and self-advocacy skills. In this way, students gain the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in today’s world.
“We are thrilled with the growth we have seen since opening our doors,” said Kim Garlinghouse- Jones, Board Chair. “We have more than doubled in our second year. This validates the need we’ve seen on the Peninsula for a strong, yet supportive school for high school students who learn differently.”
The new building location is at 2040 Pioneer Court, San Mateo, close to the junction of Highway 92 and El Camino Real. Compass High School is currently accepting applications for the 2015- 2016 school year.
