Special weekend operation targeted suspected drunk drivers, police say.

BURLINGAME, CA- A weekend DUI saturation patrol operation on the Peninsula resulted in dozens of screenings for suspected drunk drivers, police say.

According to Burlingame Police Sgt. Jim Ford, the Saturday night operation was held in the cities of Daly City and South San Francisco. During the night, the following actions were made:

  • 61 vehicles were stopped and screened
  • 2 drivers were administered field sobriety tests
  • 2 drivers were cited for driving on a suspended driver’s license
  • 2 drivers was cited for driving unlicensed
  • 2 drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol

The two drivers were identified as 51-year-old Crescencio Tornez of San Francisco and 27-year-old Chino Dionisio of Daly City.

"High visibility DUI enforcement efforts have a deterrent effect lowering the incidents of impaired driving and will continue thanks to special funding for extra officers to patrol for this deadly crime," Ford said in a news release. "These patrols are part of the San Mateo County Police Chiefs and Sheriff Association’s ongoing collaborative OTS funded STEP program, which aims to improve traffic safety on the Peninsula."
