Fire Chief Don Dornell will lead a ceremony to honor the victims of 9/11 at 6:50 a.m., the time that the first tower collapsed.
Crews at each of the city's four fire stations will park engines and other equipment in front with emergency lights flashing. Firefighters will lower each station's flags and remove the California flags. The American flags then will be raised to full height and lowered to half-staff, where they will remain for the rest of the day.
At sunset firefighters will perform a similar ceremony, but in reverse.
