Confirmation

Please note, the next confirmation meeting for all candidates is scheduled for January 10, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the gym.

Through Confirmation we become identified in a more visible way as members of the Church. Confirmation celebrates the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps grow in faith and to be a witness to our faith, living in such a way others can see what we believe.

At Baptism our parents and godparents express our faith for us. At Confirmation we express our faith for ourselves. We accept in our own name our responsibilities as followers of Jesus.

Confirmation is a three-year program.  Doctrinal instruction takes place in grades seven and eight.  Students who have completed these two years of preparation in grades seven and eight, and desire to be confirmed may enroll as high school students in the parish program of spiritual preparation.  This spiritual preparation for the Sacrament lasts for several months and culminates in the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The Youth Minister will interview each candidate who meets the critieria and is personally ready before the program begins.

Guidelines for Confirmation

Since Confirmation is a Sacrament of commitment, we expect and encourage the following under their contract:

  2. Attend Mass EVERY Sunday.

It is our hope that all candidates and their families attend Mass regularly. With this is mind, our parish is currently working on enlivening the Sunday, 6 p.m. Mass in order to make it more inviting to our young people. This Mass is followed by our youth group meetings in the Youth Room. All teens are invited. Please join us!

  1. Full cooperation with a mature and respectful attitude. Cooperation from candidates, parents, and sponsors is very important.
  2. Attend and participate in all Confirmation Meetings and activities.
  3. Attend ONE of the overnight retreats.
    • TBD
  4. To accept more responsibility in family, Church, and community including fulfillment of15 service hours by date TBD.
