CONVOLUTION: THE NEXT STEP 2012

CONVOLUTION: THE NEXT STEP, a brand-new science fiction & fantasy event for theSan Francisco Bay Area, is coming to the Hyatt Regency SFO in Burlingame. 

Convolution: The Next Step is a three-day,volunteer-operated science fiction, fantasy, and media convention. Its inaugural event takesplace Friday through Sunday, November 2 – 4, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency SFO inBurlingame, California, just south of the San Francisco International Airport. The event features guests, performers and vendors from a wide spectrum of the speculative fiction industry and community. Convolution provides a forum for creative professionals such as writers, artists, costumers, game designers and editors to network, entertain, educate, market their creations, and enjoy the company of people who love their works. For amateur creators and everyday fans, Convolution presents an opportunity to develop new skills, mingle with and listen to many of the professionals they admire, and to revel in the fellowship of the speculative fiction community.

Special events taking place at Convolution include live music and cabaret performances, a charity casino benefiting youth literacy, and a Masked Ball.

Hands-on workshops anddemonstrations inform and educate about such diverse subjects as propmaking, writingcritique, swordsmanship and self-publishing. A variety of games and tournaments are open to attendees, including collectible card games and live-action roleplaying.

The Gallery and Marketplace provide themed artwork and shopping perfectly timed for the Holiday season. Fan groups and other events similar to Convolution are represented at information tables and themed parties.
