Downtown Burlingame "Central Sites" Community Workshop

Community work shop to consider options for the potential development of a centrally-located downtown parking lot, and coordination with neighboring properties.  This workshop will be the first in a series considering these properties.

Background:

On October 4, 2010, the Burlingame City Council adopted the "Burlingame Downtown Specific Plan".  The culmination of a multi-year process, the Plan provides the framework for sustaining the existing success of the Downtown and accommodating new opportunities that can enhance the vitality of the district.

With an interest in ensuring that the Plan's policies are implemented, the City Council appointed a "Downtown Specific Plan Implementation Subcommittee" (DSPIC) tasked to work with City staff to identify and implement key policies contained in the Plan.  As an initial work effort, the subcommittee, currently consisting of Mayor Ann Keighran and Vice-Mayor Michael Brownrigg, worked with staff to prepare a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) seeking qualified, developers interested in development of one or more of the Downtown parking lots.  More information regarding this effort is available by following this link: https://www.burlingame.org/index.aspx?page=1679.  The selected developers, Grosvenor and Equity Residential, are currently in negotiations with the City regarding their parking lots of interest (Parking Lot E, and Parking Lots F and N, respectively).

Community Engagement Meetings: On March 20, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the City of Burlingame will sponsor the first in a series of workshops intended to bring together residents, property owners, business owners, and other stakeholders to explore and identify opportunities and options for particular aspects of Downtown Burlingame.  The workshops represent a continuation of the City's efforts to implement the policies of the Burlingame Downtown Specific Plan, with a specific focus on the "central sites", particularly Parking Lot E and the Downtown Post Office on Park Road.  The meeting will be held in the Lane Community Room of the Burlingame Public Library, located at 480 Primrose Road, Burlingame.  The following are links to a background summary for the meeting as well as the meeting agenda:
