Mike Madrid, author of The Supergirls: Fashion, Feminism, Fantasy, and the History of Comic Book Heroines, traces the evolution of the comic-book heroine from the 1930s to the present. Mr. Madrid combines history with humor in this one-hour presentation, which touches on empowerment, heroines' costumes, male/female relationships and how female fantasy characters reflect the lives of "real world" American women. This program will appeal to all audiences with an interest in comic books and cultural history. Don't miss out on this fun library event!
