Imagine trying to button a shirt while wearing thick gloves and blurry goggles or trying to understand verbal instructions while sirens, static and voices ring in your ears. This is what five million Americans suffering from Dementia and Alzheimers experience on a daily basis.
The purpose of the Virtual Dementia Tour is to help you work through the confusion and misunderstandings often associated with dementia. The interactive experience includes altered senses, confusion, frustration, simulated dementia and a struggle to complete tasks. This is done in a safe and controlled environment. After the experience is a time of debriefing and discussing the issues, including how to use this new knowledge to improve the quality of care for a loved one.
The Virtual Dementia Reality Tour will be on Friday, February 8 from 3 – 7pm and Saturday, February 9 from 10am – 2pm. The tour takes about 20 minutes to complete. The event is free and open to the public. The public is encouraged to call and RSVP to the concierge at 650-343-2747.
