Find Events, Destinations Near Peninsula BART Stops With New Website

BART announced the launch of a new website Wednesday that will serve as a one-stop shop for events and destinations close to a station, offering discounts and giveaways in a few clicks.

The website, http://www.bart.gov/bartable, will be updated daily to show destinations in San Francisco, the East Bay and northern Peninsula that can be reached by BART.

The site utilizes information from business review website Yelp to show places a half-mile away from a specified station once a user enters a search term for what they’re looking for, such as “picnic spots” or “museums.” Through event website FunCheapSF, the public can find events in San Francisco specifying when and where it will take place along with the cost of admission.

Event website Goldstar offers discounted tickets for an event and can be narrowed down to a specific category such as sports, comedy or dance. To obtain the discount the user will need a free online account with Goldstar.

A “featured” section on the website displays articles with information on destinations near a certain station. Each article contains an address of the place, an estimated walking time and the agency’s QuickPlanner tool to plan a trip.

The website will also show weekly contests that are also displayed through the agency’s BARTable Facebook and Twitter pages.
