Got Drugs? Here's How to Dispose of Them
The national "Take-Back Initiative" will securely dispose of any unwanted, unused or expired medications brought in by the public in October.

The United States Drug Enforcement Administration has set its next “National Take Back Initiative” event for Oct. 26.
The event provides citizens with a safe, convenient and responsible way of disposing prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

"According to the 2011 study, twice as many Americans regularly abused prescription drugs than the number of those who regularly used cocaine, hallucinogens, heroin, and inhalants combined," cited an article on the DEA website.
During the last event on April 27, 371 tons of prescription medications were collected from members of the public.

Local law enforcement, DEA, businesses and the community team up to provide a venue for citizens to safely and securely dispose of their unwanted, unused or expired medications.
