We are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. More than just ensuring our clients are fed, clothed, healthy, and housed, we help them create their own stability and remain an active, successful part of the community. Over recent years, more and more families in San Mateo County have been thrust into poverty. From the COVID-19 pandemic, to increasing wealth inequality, to the impacts of inflation and the housing crisis, the financial pressures on our neighbors have grown. Through it all, Samaritan House has been here to help – keeping pace with the demand and opening up new possibilities for people living in poverty. Though the road ahead is uncertain, we remain steadfast to our commitment to helping over 32,000 of our neighbors living in poverty every year. Six individuals and organizations will be honored by Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) at a dinner on Thursday, March 29, for their contributions to sustainability: State Senator Jerry Hill, electric bus maker Proterra, Peninsula Clean Energy, Joseph Fullerton of the San Mateo County Community College District, Youth United for Community Action and, for sustainable design, Design Tech High School. The dinner will be held at the College of San Mateo, 1700 W. Hillsdale Blvd., San Mateo. Tickets are available on SSMC's website at <a href="http://bit.ly/1G80GXd" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">sustainablesanmateo.org</a>. The deadline for early-bird pricing is February 28.
