Hillsborough Police Nab Suspected Vehicle Thief Hiding In Bushes

His alleged accomplice was also arrested nearby, police say.

HILLSBOROUGH, CA —Police arrested two men last Friday night who allegedly stole a vehicle and were in possession of burglary tools. At 9:03 p.m. on Sept. 1, police received a call from an alert citizen reporting a gray Ford F250 truck that was abandoned in the area of Crystal Springs and Woodridge roads and appeared to have been involved in a collision, police said.

Officers arrived and determined that the truck was reported stolen from Hayward. The officers searched the area and located a suspect on Ridgeway Road. He was identified as 36-year-old Michael Martinez of South San Francisco.

Officers also found 27-year-old Andres Theus Harris of Oakland hiding in nearby shrubbery, police said.

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of vehicle theft, possessing burglary tools and criminal conspiracy. Theaus Harris was also booked on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, police said.
