Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Break

CALL Primrose, serving low-income residents along the Peninsula, experiences a decrease in donations during the summer. Unfortunately this coincides with increased requests for food from low-income parents who rely on school-funded breakfast and lunch programs during the school year to help ensure their children receive enough nutritious food to thrive. When these programs are not available in the summer, families are forced to stretch their already tight budgets to come up with additional meals. To meet this need, CALL Primrose runs a program called Summer Helpings. Bags of additional food are distributed to pre-qualified families through the summer months until school starts again in the fall. “It is vitally important that our summer donations come in strong in order for us to meet these increased summer needs,” says Mary Watt, Executive Director at CALL Primrose. Call 650-342-2255 or email contact@callprimrose.org to find out how to help.
