Join the Circus With Cirque D'OLA

Parish and community members alike will gather this weekend at in Burlingame for the 26th Annual Fun Faire, Cirque D' OLA – Under the Big Top.

The event, sponsored by the OLA Mother’s Club, advertises food, carnival rides and entertainment to match the theme, with all proceeds benefitting OLA school. With about 2,000 guests attending the event each year, this year is bound to be another success.

“The fun faire is a fun family event for kids of all ages and also adults,” said Sheila Doran, one of five co-event chairs. “It brings the OLA school, parish and community together. Everyone has a great time and all the money raised goes to benefit the school.”

Although admission is free, guests may contribute by playing games, going on rides, buying raffle tickets or participating in the silent auction. Entertainment includes many local bands. Teen bands Simple Juice, Blue Spray, Broken Orange and P13 will perform Friday, while LK, Dobson Boys and OLA parishioner Rob Morton Jones’ band Morty J and the Slip Streams will be playing Saturday.

Aside from the typical carnival food, there is also a sit down dinner. Following 5 p.m. mass on Saturday September 17 there will be a dinner catered by Flavor Catering. Guests are recommended to make their reservations as soon as possible, because this is always a sold out event, which co-event chair member Diane Dean called “a favorite of the parish and school families.”

“The fun faire is a family event and is fun for one and all,” Dean said. “It brings the community together and all the proceeds go to benefit Our Lady of Angels School.”

With other attractions such as face painting and laser tag, the Cirque D’OLA is one event not to be missed. The times for the 2011 fun faire are as follows: September 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and September 17 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
