Kids (ages 7-13) get into the act at Shakespeare Camp!
Camp meets July 13-24 at Burlingame United Methodist Church, 1443 Howard Ave.
This wildly popular program (now in its 22nd season) for kids ages 7-13 is both fun and enriching! Campers learn all about the world of theater and performance from trained theater professionals in a creative and supportive environment. Experience is welcome but not required.
Shakespeare Camp provides training in:
- Shakespeare’s rich language
- Acting and improvisation
- Voice projection and movement
- Stage combat
- Set and Costume design and more!
On the final day, campers utilize their newly developed talents and skills in an abridged performance of Romeo and Juliet (the same title as this summer’s Free Shakespeare in the Park show) or The Lamentable Comedy of Pyramus and Thisbe - the hilarious play-within-a-play from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, derived from the same source material as Romeo and Juliet). Experience is welcome but not required. Family and friends are invited to the performances as well as the celebratory cast party!
Camp meets weekdays, from 9am-3pm, with aftercare available until 5:30pm. All scripts, materials and supplies for both weeks are included in the low fee of $524 (or with aftercare, $664). Need-based scholarship assistance available - call for information. 415-558-0888
