Man Whose Body Was Pulled From SMC Surf Is Identified

The circumstances surrounding the man's death are still under investigation.

PACIFICA, CA — San Mateo County coroner's officials have publicly identified a man whose body washed onto a Pacifica beach over the weekend. However, the circumstances of his death are still under investigation.

The coroner's office says 25-year-old Elliott Loring Wakefield was discovered on Sunday morning. He was a resident of San Francisco.

According to police, authorities were called around 7:30 a.m. Sunday to the beach area below 800 Palmetto Avenue.

"Upon arrival of police and fire personnel, the body of a male was pulled from the surf and pronounced deceased," police said in a news release.

No other details about the case were immediately released.
