Monday is Deadline to Register to Vote

Citizens were reminded their last chance to register to vote in the Nov. 6 general election is Monday, Oct. 22.

The deadline to register to vote in order to cast a ballot in the Nov. 6 general election is Monday, Oct. 22.

Applications submitted online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov prior to midnight Monday will be honored, as will paper forms postmarked by the deadline. Paper applications are available at the Department of Motor Vehicle offices, post offices, government offices and other locations.

California residents may register to vote if they are U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old by Election Day, not adjudicated as mentally incompetent and not precluded because of certain criminal convictions. A person must re-register to vote after moving, changing names or changing political party preference.

“This countywide election includes federal, state and local offices as well as statewide propositions and local ballot measures.  There are many issues on the ballot that will affect a voter’s quality of life, so it is important that eligible voters take the time to register and to vote,” said San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, Mark Church in a statement.
