New Art in Burlingame: 'The Five Perspectives: Lunar New Year'

Eunice Chan will be featured at Peninsula Art Institute Gallery as part of broader exhibit at Peninsula Museum of Art.

Brush paintings by Eunice Chan will be featured in a solo exhibit at the Peninsula Art Institute Gallery.

The exhibit will be on view from February 5 to March 15 with an artist’s reception Sunday, February 15 from 1-4 pm. Admission is free.

The exhibition represents Eunice Chan’s continuing effort to express time, space and perception by using brush-painting techniques. She is interested in exploring conscious perception and dream state. Subject matters include memories of her cultural past, travels and experiences living in different countries.

Eunice Chan received a classical training at the Art Students League of New York where she studied figure drawing, watercolor and pastel. After a successful career in architecture in New York, she moved to California and paints full time. Her work has won numerous awards both in New York and California.

This exhibition is held in tandem with an exhibition named The Five Perspectives: Lunar New Year at the Peninsula Museum of Art. (PMA is in the same complex as PAI.)

The ‘Five Perspectives…’ includes Eunice Chan’s show, and four other artists who will exhibit in the PMA galleries.

Three are Chinese American and is one Korean American. They are Shan Shan Sheng, paintings and glass sculpture; Wanxin Zheng, ceramic sculpture; Ming Ren, painting; Eun Lee, paintings. Shan Shan Sheng’s exhibition opened Jan. 25, the three others open February 15, 2015 and will include a member only and public event.
