Deadline is Dec. 15 For SMC Sustainability Awards

Nominate someone who's making a difference!

The deadline for nominations for Sustainable San Mateo County's 2020 awards has been extended until Dec. 15. These awards honor those who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to sustainable practices. SSMC will celebrate the 2020 awardees at its 21st annual Awards Dinner on April 2, 2020, at the College of San Mateo.

Sustainability Award nominations may be made in five categories: individuals, nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions and government agencies. In addition, SSMC is accepting nominations for its 18th annual Green Building Award, which it co-sponsors with the San Mateo Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The recipient of this award, which is given to a project in the county that promotes green, sustainable design and construction, will also be celebrated on April 2. For the first time, SSMC will honor municipalities adopting progressive building codes that emphasize all-electric construction with a Reach Code Award.

SSMC’s popular Awards Dinner on April 2 will pay tribute to those working to make San Mateo County more sustainable. The event offers a networking hour, a sustainable dinner, a raffle, an auction and presentations highlighting the achievements of the award recipients. Awardees receive community recognition, two complimentary tickets to the Awards Dinner, an award presentation at the dinner and opportunities for year-round partnering with SSMC.

At the Awards Dinner last April, SSMC honored TransForm, the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame, Lime, long-time SSMC volunteer Bill Schulte and the Half Moon Bay Library.
