Become a Volunteer Senior Peer Counselor with Peninsula Family Service. 

Fall Training begins September 30, 2013 

You receive Free Training and Support:
* Communication and Active Listening Skills
* Basics of Counseling
* Working with Diverse Cultures 
* Social and Family Relationships 
* Understanding Social Isolation
* Working with Grief and Loss
* How to Recognize and Respond to Depression and Anxiety
* Common Health Issues of Older Adults
* Taking Care of Yourself
* Professional Supervision and Continuing Education 
Expectations
* Interest in working with older adults 
* Be a good listener
* Be caring and compassionate
* Be at least 55 years old 
* Have transportation
* Be able to volunteer 1+ hours a week 
* Attend two 3 hour training sessions a week for 9 weeks 
* Meet with fellow volunteers twice a month
