Peninsula Man Found Dead In Russian River

His relatives were notified this morning. [Breaking]

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – A 62-year-old Pacifica man was found dead in the Russian River near Healdsburg Veterans Memorial Beach on Monday afternoon, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

A kayaker spotted the dead man, who was clutching a bucket, around 1:15 p.m., Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

The man was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and flip-flops, sheriff's Sgt. Ed Hoener said.

Responders found keys in the man's pocket and matched them to a vehicle in a parking lot at Badger Park. He was identified as Gennady Liubimsky after his next of kin were notified this morning, Crum said.

There appears to be nothing suspicious about Liubimsky's death, Crum said.

The sheriff's helicopter Henry-1 responded to the death and the recovery of the body, according to Crum.
