Teen Stabbed In 'Completely Random' Attack At A Peninsula Library, Sheriff's Office
BREAKING: Sheriff's officials are asking residents to avoid the area.

MILLBRAE, CA — A 13-year-old boy was in surgery Friday evening after being attacked outside the Millbrae Library in a "completely random" attack, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Officials say they do not know why the boy, who was not identified, was targeted in the stabbing. No one else was injured.
"The teenager was shocked, the teenager was panicking... he didn't know why he was attacked," sheriff's Det. Salvador Zuno said at a press conference Friday, while describing the bloody scene left behind.
The stabbing occurred at about 2:30 p.m. outside of the Millbrae Public Library, located at 1 Library Ave. That's in the area of El Camino Real and Hillcrest Boulevard.

Zuno said the suspect, described only as a 40-year-old man, randomly approached the teen and then began stabbing him multiple times in the arms.
"It was completely random," he said. "He approached only one teenager and attacked this one teenager."

Afterwards, the man did not take off, which authorities noted was odd.
"After the attack, he didn't flee, he stayed in the area," Zuno said.
