FRIDAY

South San Francisco (3-0) at Jefferson (0-3), 6 p.m. Can Jeff kick-start its season with a rivalry win? Or will SSF prevail and announce it’s a PAL Ocean title contender?

Scotts Valley (3-0) at Sacred Heart Prep (3-0), 3:30 p.m. Final PAL Bay tune-up for SHP; emerging Gator ‘D’ should gain even more confidence this week.

Capuchino (1-2) at Mt. Eden (1-1), 3:45 p.m. Cap’s first back-to-back wins since late 2008 not a stretch; Mt. Eden has lost 15 of 16, including 14-12 to Mustangs in 2010.

Hillsdale (1-2) vs. Menlo (2-0) at Woodside, 7 p.m. Don’t write off Hillsdale – it beat Menlo 13-9 last year; coming off bye, Menlo looks for its ‘O’ to click for first time.

Menlo-Atherton (1-2) at Half Moon Bay (1-2), 7 p.m. M-A eager to show what it learned from tough losses; HMB needs best offensive day to compete.

Carlmont (0-2) at Aragon (2-0), 7 p.m. Despite loss to Scots a year ago, this may be a trap game for surging Aragon; can rested Carlmont ‘D’ be first to slow Dons?

San Mateo (0-1-1) at Terra Nova (1-2), 7 p.m. Terra Nova put up 50-spot in beating Bearcats a year ago; Tigers’ speed and depth are big advantages.

Mills (1-2) at Gunderson (1-1), 7 p.m. In aiming for consecutive victories for first time since Oct. '08, Vikes need repeat of staunch ‘D’ against Harbor plus more scoring.

Sequoia (2-0) at Mazama-Klamath Falls (1-1), 7 p.m. Round trip of ~750 miles to feature plenty of team-building for Cherokees; Taylor-led ‘O’ looks potent at outset.

SATURDAY

Burlingame (2-1) at Mountain View (1-1), 1:30 p.m. Panther running game salivating at Spartan ‘D’ that has allowed 67 points; can BHS build on 4-TD win over Gunn?
