MILLBRAE, CA — A Peninsula man was jailed this week on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young child, sheriff's officials announced. Though the acts happened in 2016, the East Palo Alto man was just arrested on Monday after the allegations came to light, according to the sheriff's department.

Joaquin Sanchez was arrested at his workplace in Millbrae on suspicion of two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old, according to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade.

The charges are in connection to assaults that occurred on two separate occasions in unincorporated Redwood City and East Palo Alto, she said.
