South SF Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested In Arizona

The shooting was in January on Fourth Lane.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA - A man wanted for shooting an acquaintance driving in South San Francisco in January was arrested on Monday in Arizona, South San Francisco police said today.

The shooting happened on Jan. 19 when the acquaintance was driving in the 600 block of Fourth Lane.

The shooter was identified as 29-year-old Christian Mares and police obtained a $1 million warrant for his arrest. Mares fled the Bay Area after the shooting and was tracked down by the U.S. Marshals Service in Mesa, Arizona.

He was arrested there on Monday, police said. He was found with a stolen handgun when he was arrested.

Mares is also facing criminal charges in Arizona and is awaiting extradition to California where he is wanted for attempted murder, police said.
