Transient Nabbed In El Camino Real Robbery

Sheriff's officials say the man was caught shortly after stealing from a local grocery store.

MILLBRAE, CA — A Peninsula transient was arrested over the weekend after getting caught shoplifting from a local grocery store, the San Mateo County sheriff's office reported Monday.

Dylan Slusser, 37, was arrested in connection to the incident, which happened around 6 p.m. Sunday at the Safeway store in the 500 block of El Camino Real, according to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade.

She said sheriff's deputies were called for a shoplifting case.

"Upon arrival, store security and a few bystanders had Dylan Slusser detained down the street from Safeway," Bankswade said in a news release. "Through the investigation, we learned that Slusser was seen taking merchandise from Safeway and when he was confronted by store security, he pushed the security guard multiple times in an attempt to get away with the stolen items."

Slussler was ultimately booked into the Redwood City jail on suspicion of robbery, according to Slusser.
