Two Burlingame Schools Receive $1,000 Donations

Wells Fargo presented forty-three $1,000 checks to principals and representatives of primary schools in San Mateo County Wednesday, including Franklin and McKinley elementary schools in Burlingame.

As part of its annual Community Connection Grant Program, managers of Wells Fargo stores selected neighborhood schools to receive the $1,000 grants, and reiterated support of store team members volunteerism and involvement in local communities.

San Mateo County District 3 Supervisor Don Horsley and County Superintendent of Schools Anne Campbell shared remarks at the event, reiterating a call to action to support local schools.“Wells Fargo values our communities where our team members live and work,” said Wendy Haller, president of Wells Fargo’s Peninsula market. “One way we help our local communities is by providing funds to our local schools. Each of our Peninsula store managers selected one school that would receive a $1,000 grant, and principals will have the flexibility to spend the money in whatever way will best benefit their students. Our educators have the critical responsibility of teaching our next generation of leaders, and we believe it’s important to support their effort through collaboration, contributions and volunteerism.”

Wells Fargo has a long history of philanthropy. In 2013, Wells Fargo donated $23.2 million to local schools and nonprofits, which ranked Wells Fargo the top corporate philanthropist in the Bay Area, according to the San Francisco Business Times. In addition, Bay Area team members volunteered more than 86,000 hours at local schools and nonprofit organizations last year.
