Who Has Hearing Loss

Do you suffer from not being able to understand conversation easily because your hearing  has been changing? Ever wonder if it’s “Just You?” Take heart, it’s more common than you think. In fact, if you are between the ages of 29 and 40, get a group of 28 friends together, two of you suffer from hearing loss. If you are 41 – 59, have a barbecue with 18 friends, three of you are missing a lot of what is being said, and if you are over the age of sixty, a gathering of 20 people will include six people struggling to hear the conversation. In short, two out of three people who don’t hear clearly are below retirement age. Here are a few indications that you may not be hearing well: you have difficulty hearing in noise, it seems other people are mumbling, or you feel stressed or fatigued from events that require you to work hard to understand conversations. Pay special attention to these symptoms if you have any of the following risk factors: family history of hearing loss, diabetes, cardiac or thyroid condition, or history of exposure to loud noise. –Precision Hearing, Burlingame
