Alicia Weintraub Announces Council Campaign

Calabasas is a special place and for close to a decade it has been my honor to serve the community while always working to make government more responsive and responsible.

This year, voters will have an opportunity to continue our city’s long-term efforts to wisely and carefully balance opportunities for growth with the need to maintain the open spaces and the wonderful nature of our community.

Today, I ask you to join with many residents (from young families to seniors) and elected leaders to support my candidacy for Calabasas City Council on November 3, 2015.

Together we have been able as a city to accomplish some innovative items like:

Improving the Planning Process to Help Support Smart Growth By Attracting High Quality Businesses While Preserving Open Space. As a Planning Commissioner, I have supported a streamlined planning process that seeks to attract high quality businesses to our community. Increased tax revenue from these businesses helps to improve our quality of life by providing the amenities and programs that make Calabasas great.

Protecting Wildlife, Cleaning Our Trails And Streambeds. As an Environmental Commissioner, I helped create plans, like our coyote management plan, with the goal to protect residents and wildlife. In addition I participate in trail and watershed clean ups that have brought our community together.

Maintaining High Quality Public Schools. The education of Calabasas’ kids has always been dear to me and as Board Member on the Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools, and my local school’s Parent Faculty Association we have been able to find local, and often private, funding sources for critical programs that no longer receive state funding.

On Council, I will work to wisely expand these efforts.
