Ruptured Water Main Causes Problems for Businesses and Commuters on Ventura Boulevard

A ruptured water main flooded a portion of Ventura Boulevard, forcing traffic detours and interrupting service for about 48 businesses.

An 8-inch water main ruptured today in Sherman Oaks, interrupting service to about four dozen businesses, authorities said.

The problem was reported about noon in the 14500 block of Ventura Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Traffic was routed away from the area, and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was notified, the LAFD reported.

According to the LADWP, 50 customers were without water as a result of the break in the main, and crews were working to make repairs.
