Mayweather Victory Over Pacquiao Would Help Suge Knight in Murder Trial, Attorney Claims
If Floyd Mayweather Jr. beats Manny Pacquiao Sunday, prize money could help with Suge Knight's defense, the former rap mogul's attorney says
While sitting behind bars this weekend, former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight will be rooting heavily for boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his long-awaited bout against Manny Pacquiao -- because the outcome of the fight might help him get out of jail.
Knight’s attorney, Matthew Fletcher, said today Mayweather is a friend of his client, and the boxer could pony up some of his winnings if he prevails in the fight to help cover Knight’s $10 million bail.
“I think we’re going to have very good luck,” Fletcher said. “ ... Hopefully next week ... after Floyd Mayweather wins again, I think he’s going to come riding to the rescue. There’s a lot of really good things that him and Suge are very close friends -- have known each other for a while. Obviously he’s been busy, they’ve both been busy, but I think we will be able to make bail.”

Knight is jailed on charges of murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run for allegedly running down two men in a Compton parking lot, killing one of them.
Fletcher has made repeated efforts to get his client out of jail, but a judge today denied his latest request to have Knight’s bail lowered again.
