She worries budget cuts and a laid-off detective stalled promising leads, and urges anyone with information to contact California City Police. 
• Child drowns in pond after entering water to escape attacking dogs: officials (local12.com) — A California City child died after fleeing two off-leash dogs into Central Park’s lake, where first responders pulled the child from the water but could not save them. Three other children were also hurt, and the mayor and multiple agencies are investigating the dogs’ owner, circumstances of the attack, and the drowning. Police are asking anyone with information or video to contact them.
