3 Killed Sunday Morning In Car Fire On Hwy 101 at I-280
The car crashed and caught on fire shortly before 2 a.m.
Three people were killed in a car fire on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers responded to a report of a car fire on the southbound Highway 101 connector to Interstate Highway 280 shortly before 2 a.m., CHP Officer Ron Simmons said.
The car had crashed and caught on fire, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.

Three people in the car, a four-door Infiniti sedan, were killed in the fire, Simmons said.
The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office was called to the scene.

A Sig-alert was issued at 2:27 a.m. closing the far left lane of the connector ramp from southbound Highway 101 to Highway 280, which reopened about 30 minutes later, according to the CHP. The far right lane on southbound Highway 101 was then closed shortly after 3 a.m., CHP officials said.
The Sig-alert was canceled around 6:30 a.m., according to Simmons.
