SAN JOSE, CA — A 19-year-old Cupertino man has been arrested in connection with a string of sexual assaults, including at a prominent Bay Area mall, police said Tuesday.

Police say Josiah Adorno attacked a woman outside the Westfield Valley Fair mall in San Jose on the night of March 19.

He sexually assaulted her over her clothing before she fell to the ground and fought him off, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Adorno ran off before police arrived, and the woman, who suffered minor injuries during the struggle, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The 19-year-old was identified as a suspect in the assault and was linked to at least two other similar battery cases in the city of San Jose, police said, adding that detectives obtained enough probable cause for an arrest warrant against him.

Adorno was located on May 26 in San Jose and taken into custody on suspicion of false imprisonment and sexual battery, police said.

"Due to the nature of the crime, Detectives believe there may be additional survivors," police said in a statement Tuesday. "Anyone with information about this case or similar cases is urged to contact Detective Hoang #4684 of the San José Police Sexual Assaults Investigation Unit via email: 4684@sanjoseca.gov or 408-277-4102."
