
At their April 17 meeting, the MetroED Governing Board unanimously appointed Alyssa Lynch MetroED's next Superintendent. Lynch will serve as Superintendent Elect from May 6 to May 31 and then as Superintendent beginning June 1. Current Superintendent Paul Hay
has extended his retirement date until May 31 to help ensure a smooth transition. Hay has served as MetroED’s Superintendent since January 2007.
"I have always considered MetroED a leader in Career Technical Education in Santa Clara County and now I will be a part of the winning team," Lynch said. "I really look forward to this new opportunity."
In November 2012, the MetroED Governing Board
hired Leadership Associates to conduct a Superintendent recruitment. Following an extensive background check on
each of the seven candidates, the Board interviewed four applicants on March 29 and chose Lynch as the finalist. Lynch has more than 23 years of experience in education.

“We were impressed by her passion for education, her commitment to student success and her in-depth knowledge of Career Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education,” MetroED Board President, Rich Garcia, said. “Alyssa has all the characteristics that we are looking for in a new Superintendent and the Board feels that she will be a perfect fit for MetroED.”
Lynch is known throughout the local CTE community for her role in helping launch the CTE Initiative in Santa Clara
County. Lynch has served as the Director of CTE for the Santa Clara County Office of Education since July 2008. Prior to that, Lynch was the Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Director for SCCOE’s North County ROP, the ROP High School Coordinator and ROP Marketing Instructor at Mission Valley ROP, and Program Counselor at St. Mary’s College.

The Campbell resident earned her Bachelors in Home Economics in 1986, a Master’s in Fashion Merchandising in 1990, and a Master’s in Education, Administration and Supervision in 2003. In addition, Lynch earned an Administrative Services credential and a Designated Subjects credential from San Jose State University during the 1990’s.
The 2008 CTE California Administrator of the Year said that she looks forward to serving as MetroED’s Superintendent and “carrying on the great work of CCOC and MAEP.”
Lynch has routinely worked with MetroED on a number of projects including student leadership conferences, summer camps, professional development, and created videos to highlight CCOC’s ROP programs.
Lynch said in her application, “In my current role as the SCCOE CTE Director, I have pre-existing, positive working
relationships with the six districts served by MetroED giving me a head start on my work. I understand the diverse needs of our students, community, and districts making me a natural fit for the superintendent position.”
MetroED’s programs include Central County Occupational Center (CCOC), the Metropolitan Adult Education Program (MAEP) and the Regional Teacher Credentialing Program. MetroED is a six district Joint Powers Authority serving students in the Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint
Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District.
