Divers Recover Body Of Drowning Victim At Santa Clara County Park: Police
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's dive team was called after rangers spotted a person in distress in Cottonwood Lake.
SANTA CLARA, CA — A person drowned Sunday afternoon at Hellyer County Park in San Jose, and sheriff's divers recovered the body after a search of the water, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said.
Santa Clara County Parks said the rangers were alerted around 1:40 p.m. to a person in distress in the water at Cottonwood Lake. Sheriff's deputies and San Jose Fire Department personnel responded, and the Sheriff's Office Dive Team and Underwater Search Unit were called in to search the lake.

The individual was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m. It remains unclear why the person entered the water.
The victim's identity has not been confirmed.
