Campbell Middle School Students Earn Awards At SJSU Event

The wins qualified 15 students to compete regionally.

From CMS: Campbell Middle School (CMS) students showed ingenuity, teamwork and grit at the local MESA Day event at San Jose State University this month. The 41 CMS students were among more than 500 middle and high schoolers who competed in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, showcasing innovative projects that they have been working on for months.


Fifteen CMS students earned awards and qualify for the Northern California regional event on April 28, 2018, at California State University East Bay. They are: Sarah Vogler, Ashley Kumar, Samantha Knabel, Alexa Murillo, Brenda Ledesma, Ashley Coreas, Jakerion Thurman, Sarah Vogler, Isabella Ohanian, Fernando Gutierrez, Joel Diaz, Miles Munoz, Heaven Vargas, Kira Moran, and Anh Nguyen.

Established in 1970, the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) has helped thousands of students in California. The MESA Schools Program has been on the San Jose State University campus since 1979 to serve Silicon Valley students from 6th –12th grade.
