Campbell Water Tower Shines Light On Domestic Violence Awareness
The tower was lit up purple Wednesday night in remembrance of Santa Clara County domestic violence victims.

CAMPBELL, CA — In a rare occurrence, the Campbell water tower was lit up purple Wednesday night in remembrance of Santa Clara County domestic violence victims. The lighting was a joint effort between city of Campbell elected officials and Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, the county's oldest and largest privately funded nonprofit organization established to combat domestic violence.
A brief ceremony took place at 6:30 p.m. as the tower was lit up in observance of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Campbell Mayor Liz Gibbons and Next Door Solutions Executive Director Esther Peralez-Dieckmann addressed a group of supporters who gathered at S. 1st Street and Orchard City Drive, near the base of the tower.
"The lighting of the Campbell water tower was for one night only and is a somewhat rare occurrence for them to honor such an occasion," said Cris Paden, a spokesperson for Next Door Solutions.

The organization runs a 24-hour hotline for those who need help in a domestic violence situation or know someone else who needs help. The hotline number is 408-279-2962.
"We all know someone who is a victim, or, we know someone who knows someone," Paden said. "If only one person gets help because of all of this, then it’s worth it. It’s a life or death deal in many cases, so every little bit helps."
