City Announces 2015 'What I Love About Campbell' Poster Contest

Entries are now being accepted from Campbell fifth-graders.

Today, the Civic Improvement Commission (CIC) announced its annual Student Poster Contest, which is open to all 5th grade students residing in Campbell or attending a public or private school in Campbell.

With the recurring theme of “What I Love about Campbell,” participants are asked to creatively illustrate people, places or things within Campbell that they enjoy. Submissions will be evaluated and rewarded based on neatness, legibility, and adherence to the contest’s theme through representation of Campbell, as well as on grammar and spelling.

“All of the Commissioners are very excited about this year’s 5th grade poster contest. We know it will be tough choosing the top winners. We anticipate once again receiving outstanding works of art showing many wonderful things about life in Campbell” said Sharon Teeter, Civic Improvement Commission Chairperson.

Prizes, including the grand prize of a new mountain bike, donated by Wheel Away Cycle Center in Campbell, will be awarded for the top posters selected. The poster winners will be invited to the May 14 Civic Improvement Commission meeting at which time the awards will be presented.

All poster entries must be submitted by Friday, April 3, 2015 to the City Manager’s Office at City Hall, 70 North First Street, Campbell, CA 95008.

Additional rules for this year’s contest are listed below – participants are urged to follow them and to have fun!

· Entries should show people, places, or things about Campbell that the entrant “loves” and include a short paragraph on the back of the poster which explains the poster’s content.

· Entries will be evaluated in part on neatness, legibility, adherence to the contest’s “What I Love about Campbell” theme, as well as on spelling and grammar.

· Entries must incorporate the “What I Love About Campbell” theme.

· All artwork must be hand drawn. Computer-generated letters and graphics are not allowed.

· Poster dimensions preferred size is 22” x 14” on poster board or equivalent material. A limited supply of poster board is available at Campbell City Hall, 70 N. First Street, Campbell, CA 95008.

· Any of the following art media may be used: watercolors, felt pens, colored pens, pencils, crayons or pastels.

· Applications can be picked up at the City Manager’s Office at Campbell City Hall.
