County Coroner IDs 23-Year-Old Killed In Crash Near Hwy 101 North Of Gilroy
The two-car collision was Monday evening.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A 23-year-old man killed in a two-car collision north of Gilroy and west of U.S. Highway 101 on Monday evening has been identified as Andrew Cook, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
Cook, a Gilroy resident, was heading south on Santa Teresa Boulevard just north of Fitzgerald Avenue around 5 p.m. when he drove a white 2006 Toyota Matrix onto the west shoulder and lost control of the vehicle,
California Highway Patrol officials said.
The man drove the Toyota into a northbound lane where it collided with a gold 2004 Jeep Rubicon, according to the CHP.

Emergency crews responded to the scene where they found the 23-year-old Toyota driver, who was pronounced dead roughly 20 minutes later, CHP officials said.
A 47-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl, both from Gilroy, were in the Jeep and didn't report any injuries, according to the CHP.

Both vehicles were traveling at about 45 mph prior to the collision, CHP officials said.
Investigators don't suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision. The crash blocked off traffic in the area for about four hours, CHP officials said.
