Earthquake Rattles South Bay

Did you feel the quake as it struck Santa Clara County Wednesday night?

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 rattled Santa Clara County Wednesday night. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 6:41 p.m. temblor struck at a depth of 3.72 miles along the Calaveras Fault. The site of the quake was about 10 miles north of Morgan Hill, 14 miles east of San Jose, 13 miles north of San Martin and 12 miles southeast of Alum Rock.

According to responses recorded by the USGS, the earthquake was felt throughout the Santa Clara Valley in Los Gatos, Campbell, Saratoga, Palo Alto, San Jose, Cupertino, as well as elsewhere in the Bay Area and Northern California in Santa Cruz, Danville, Oakland, San Francisco, Sonoma, Santa Rosa and Ft. Bragg.
