Why Go: This is the annual showcase of Lujianping Dance and Arts. Come to the performance and see what students have been learning all year long. And learn something more yourself about Chinese dance and culture.

Where/When: Sanborn County Park, 16055 Sanborn Rd, Saratoga, Sunday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Why Go: This is a lovely guided tour and easy to manage. You can see forest plants and animals while taking a moderate two-mile hike. A Park Ranger will lead the way. Don't forget to wear hiking shoes and bring sunscreen and water with you.

Where/When: , 4805 Westmont Ave. Saturday 9 a.m. to noon (Go to the Ag Farm, directly across the street from the baseball field.)
Why Go: Support the high school's FFA group by buying their plants. They have over 60 varieties of greenhouse vegetables, herbs and flower seedlings. All plants are just $2.

Where/Where: , 20 High School Ct., Los Gatos, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Here's your opportunity to get rid of some of that stuff you have been meaning to clear out forever, but either didn't have the time or didn't know how to get it carted away. Universal Waste Management calls this their UnWaste event. It's all about recycling. What doesn't work for you, might be perfect for someone else. Their workers will be hand to do ALL the heavy lifting. All you have to do is get there with your stuff.
Pricing: Free, except for large items (appliances, mattresses, etc).
When/Where: Fourth Summit Center, 88 S 4th Street, San Jose, Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Why Go: This is an authors salon and a chance to hear first-hand from a wide range of nationally recognized writers all under one roof. Those there will include Robert Hirst, Simon Winchester, Barry Eisler, Bo Caldwell, and Patricia Lopes Don. Keith Raffel moderates.
