Quimby Fire In Santa Clara County Fully Contained: Cal Fire
Breaking: Firefighters had been battling the wildfire east of San Jose since Wednesday.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- A 54-acre fire that started at a Santa Clara County park in the hills east of San Jose on Wednesday evening has been fully contained, Cal Fire officials said Friday morning.
The fire had burned about 30 acres by 7:40 p.m. Wednesday after sparking round 6 p.m. near Quimby and Mt. Hamilton roads, close to Grant Lake at Joseph D. Grant County Park.
The blaze had grown to 54 acres by 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and was 55 percent contained with forward progress stopped, according to Cal Fire officials.

At 10 a.m. on Thursday, the fire was 72 percent contained. Full containment was reported at 10:40 a.m. Friday, though some firefighters are likely still mopping up, according to Pam Temmermand, fire prevention
specialist for Cal Fire.

No structures were damaged in the steep hillside fire, which burned shrubs, weeds and grass.
"It had the opportunity to go right up the ridge, so we jumped on it pretty fast," Temmermand said.
About 150 firefighters from Cal Fire and the San Jose Fire Department worked on the fire, Temmermand said.
